Leave only footprints

“Stay close to anything that makes you glad you are alive.”
~ Hafiz

Spring HAS to be just around the corner.
The clear skies and sunshiny days tease the senses.
It looks like it should be warm
 ... but it ISN’T.

Anything but.
Tortuously cold toes need to defrost on my return from a ramble.
The hound takes it all in her stride.
I often wonder if she feels the frost underfoot as we tiptoe along the boardwalks.
Its white and pristine and unblemished.
No footprints at that time of the day.
Ours are the first.
For some unfathomable reason, I like to leave as few as possible.
It makes for giddy games and giggles.
Anyone seeing us would wonder what we were up to.
Anyone up early enough that is.
The early morning light has been glorious.
Still not quite light enough,
but glorious nevertheless.

I get impatient in winter.  Capturing the beauty of these cold winter mornings DOESN’T always go according to plan.

No matter HOW much I might want to share the magic I see, the light DOESN’T always play ball.
The reflections can be breathtaking.
Spell binding in fact.
Who would have thought that a living moving body of water could be SO very tranquil.
Even if only for a moment.
Extra shifts at work are keeping our rambles brief.
No matter though.
They’re as always, hugely satisfying.
