Another beautiful rainbow .. and a deserted beach! |
We got
drenched on our walk today ... knew it was going to happen when I saw the
rainbow ... it was a
vibrantly beautiful one ... only partially hidden by the clouds .. but
boy,
did it bring down the rain!! I’m realising that when I see these gorgeous rainbows they often precipitate a heavy downpour ... so it’s best to
scarper home double quick if one wants to avoid getting wet! It’s a bit difficult though if you’re on the beach and home is
‘up that hill over there’ ... and made much more difficult by a hound not really ready to leave the beach and her ball just yet ...
 |
She can SMELL the rain coming .... |
So, we got wet ..... significantly wet ....
 |
Only mad dogs and Englishmen ...... |
The blue skies took me back down to the beach a little later for another
caffeine fix ....
shared by my hound this time .... I think she’s as addicted to coffee as what I am .... especially the froth which she gets all over her snout! The girls at our local coffee haunt reckon over weekends they make up to
500 coffees a day ....
tongue in cheek they told us 300
of those would be for us
.... very funny girls .....
 |
At lunchtime ... after the storm had passed |
I need to tell them that
3 or more fixes of the black stuff a day is actually good for me .... they improve my
focus and memory skills ....
sadly they don't seem to have the same long-lasting effect on men ....
sorry guys!
Another benefit of my caffeine addiction is that, coupled with exercise, it provides
significant protection against skin cancer ... the combination apparently increases the destruction of pre-cancerous cells ....
oh yes .... I can live with this .... my caffeine fix is
SO good for me .... and that’s apart from the social aspect of it too!!
You see the
social side
of it everywhere
in my bay ... on the
beach ... at the
cafes .... at the
bus stops ..... in
cars ..... people sitting on the
benches on the boardwalk ...... all drinking their fix. It’s never struck me quite as much before as to how many people I see every day with a
take-out coffee in their hand ...
they’re everywhere!!!
It makes sense of something else I read earlier about
coffee beans being the largest commodity in world trade, after petroleum.
Thank goodness they don’t
tax coffee beans like they
tax wine .... the world’s most
inexpensive luxury would fast become unaffordable!!
