Rugby matches, meanders and missing kitties.

“For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love.”
~ Joe Hanson

So the Chiefs won and the Brumbies beat the Bulls
.... and 'the cat that lived' has gone missing ... AGAIN.
Found a Protea on the reserve below the middle lemming'shome
I know, I know.  They’re totally unrelated but they’re part and parcel of our activities this weekend. Watching rugby and kitty searching.
Oh yes .... and participating in markets - successfully.

No success at the first two though.

The other half wanted the Crusaders to win.  I was ambivalent.  I know  Carol fancies the Chiefs chances at pulling off a championship win for the second year in a row.  She believes my hound agrees with her.

Last night’s Chiefs/Crusaders match at the Lahood home was apparently a noisy affair .... and NOT because there were lots of people there.  There were only 2 and one of them was Carol.

The ONE making ALL the noise was Carol.

She gets rather excited and VERY verbose when watching her chosen team.  It was a close game, exciting to the end and she would have been chewing her nails to the quick.
Poor Pete.

We WERE supposed to get up at 3am to watch the Bulls/Brumbies match but we didn’t, and no, it wasn’t because I’d forgotten to set the alarm.  A large part of our evening was spent at A+E .... yep, we’re becoming regulars there.  Not for me this time though but for the middle lemming who landed awkwardly on her ankle.  Said ankle now resembles an inflated balloon.

The nurses have strapped her up with a moon boot and crutches and she has to head back for an x-ray and scan on Monday to determine the extent of the damage.  I think she wanted some rest and for the ‘favourite child’ to have to wait on her hand and foot for the next few weeks.

A lone Spurwing Plover

We recorded the rugby and watched it this morning. An early morning call from Carol NEARLY revealed the result but I managed to butt in and instruct her NOT to give me the score as we were in the midst of watching the match.

I didn’t access the internet either as somehow, when you go on line, information you DON’T want to know jumps out when you least expect it and WHACKS you on the head.

We did a kitty search this morning too and rambled from the middle lemming’s home to the Glendowie Sandspit, home of the Tahuna Torea Reserve.
This little guy led me a merry chase .... through the mud!
We didn’t find the kitty but we did find a magnificent bird sanctuary.

Tahuna Torea Reserve is a 25 hectare reserve sited on a sand spit extending out into the Tamaki Estuary.  Sadly, it’s one of the few public reserves that DON’T permit hounds due to the abundance of native birds that’ve made their home there.

A ramble through here will have to be without my 4-legged furry friend.  I ventured a short way into it sans hound today and will DEFINITELY be returning.

They have KINGFISHERS in abundance!

The ball was in the bag ....
so she tried to get it out ....
and with a little help from me, she did!
