We all need to be a little bit like Alice. When you’re not sure what’s happening in your life or where it’s going to take you, just take a deep breath, swallow hard and take that step forward. You can’t see what magic awaits you unless you do.
As Rumi said
“Remember, the entrance door to the sanctuary is inside you.”
I can hide there WHENEVER I want!
At 6.30 in the morning though, that SUNRISE is beckoning and it DOESN’T wait for anyone. Unusually for that time in the morning I had to share the view-site with other voyeurs. There are often cyclists going past and joggers and other ramblers but few of them interrupt their morning routine to take note of the sunrise .... magical as it might be.
It was hidden behind clouds this morning and I was rambling to a deadline. Monday mornings are manic after a busy weekend .... and the heron and the beach were calling.
Low tide, sunshine and reflections EVERYWHERE.
MY kind of day!
Stalking the heron proved a tad tricky today though. He was just behind the breakwater on the mudflats, catching crabs and fish. The mudflats were rather sticky .... squelchily so .... and my feet kept getting stuck in the mud. I didn’t lose my shoes though and I did get some photos of the Oyster Catcher and he’s usually shyer than Mr. Heron!
Mr. Heron’s a very capable fisherman. Despite my interference in his supermarket shop, he caught several crab and fish whilst I was watching. That was in between aerial sortees up and down the beach to escape me ... or escape the hound maybe. Hounds and herons just DON’T mix so I sat on the sand and watched him from a distance.
Brian was on the beach with Nico and the other Schnauzer they’re hound-sitting ... I can’t remember it’s name but it’s like having double-vision .... two Nico’s! They chased the shag off its perch and then stood there, looking around for what else they could chase. They’re just SO cute!
My hound found herself a stick wedged in the mud and just HAD to dig it out. I’m not sure WHO had the most mud on them when we got home ... her or me. All I do know is that we had rather muddy water running down the drain when I hosed myself and her down ... yes .... with COLD water!
Mornings like this are just perfect. Perfect conditions ... perfect weather .... perfect world .... even if it is JUST for a moment in time
