Eat me .... eat me!!

Working in the shop is a whole heap of fun, but I think our presence on the beach is being missed.

Several of the “humans with hounds” I usually see on the beach took a turn past the shop this morning to stop in and say hi. I don’t think they miss my hound giving them an impromptu shower, but they do miss the smiles and the chat on the sand.

As I told them all though, we’re still on the beach every day but at a time when they’re still either in bed or only contemplating braving the weather.

We do see Bandit and his human most mornings ... can’t for the life of me remember his name ... but they, like us, are early risers. Somehow, I just couldn’t contemplate a day being complete without a ramble in the waves with the hound, no matter how brief.

It’s a good job I DO still find time in the day for my rambles. If I didn’t exercise as much, working at the shop could be really detrimental for my waist-line!

At the far end of the mall is a small shop/deli called Lindsay’s Food Emporium .... owned and run by a South African couple. Not only will Lindsay make Melk Tert, Malva Pudding, Bobotie etc but she also stocks other South African delicacies that aren’t always readily available elsewhere.

She also makes fresh sandwiches to order each day and, on certain days of the week, orders in the yummiest of pies .... chicken and leek being my favourite. I ALWAYS know what I’m having for lunch on a Wednesday.

I only recently discovered her ginger slices ... they are decadently delicious .... especially for someone like me who loves ginger. It hasn’t really been a good discovery as the tray of ginger slices yell at me every time I walk down the mall to the bathroom. All I can hear is “Eat me ..... eat me!!!”

Why is it that the most delicious of delicacies have the loudest of voices?
