One day I will find the right words ....

"I urge you to be as impudent as you dare.
BE BOLD, BE BOLD, BE BOLD."
- Susan Sontag

LOGOLEPSY ... me to a T.
This is EXACTLY what my mornings are!
Those of you who know me well will know that to be TRUE
... if you know what the word means, that is.
I have a lemming that suffers from this malady too.
Yes, it’s a noun and no, it’s not an illness of any kind.
The middle lemming, with her knowledge of ancient history and Greek
should know what it means.
The rest of you I’ll keep in suspense for a moment longer.
There’s a lovely new site on FB ... well, new to me that is
.... that describes a fascination with words as a pornography of sorts.
Word Porn.
It’s a page very aptly named.
They have words on there that I’ve NEVER heard of before.
As my lemmings will attest, I walk, eat and sleep dictionaries
so finding this site is exciting in the extreme!
Reflections are my downfall ... just love them!
Yes I know.  I’m weird
Logolepsy is a fascination or obsession with words
... something I can DEFINITELY relate to.
Whilst I'm IN the waves throwing balls for the hounds, Carol's multi-tasking on the beach
..... looking after my chattels and talking on her phone!
This fascination with words and their construction has stood me in good stead.  It probably stems from my schooldays when I studied Latin for 5 years, a recommended subject for those wishing to study veterinary science.  Over the years though I’ve appreciated and understood more the insight it’s given me into words and their origin.
It’s simple.  Latin aids literacy.
It engenders a  better ability to breakdown, understand and spell words hitherto unseen.  There is a great utility to the language and it’s sad that it’s not still part of the school curriculum.
As Plato observed,
"Ignorance, the root and stem of all evil."

Logolepsy and Latin aside, this new site has spawned a whole host of new words and avid  afficiandos.  On a daily basis now I’m accosted with new words and a demand to define them.  I’ve given up protesting that it’s not fair.  Some of these words have yet to be approved for inclusion in the more revered of dictionaries.
I admit defeat and the victor departs, smiling serenely at their ability to befuddle me.
This kitty cat is so naughty.  He sits in front of the hound and she won't walk past him.
He has her sussed!
