“Don’t be satisfied with stories, how things have gone with others. Unfold your own myth.”
~ Rumi
Apparently there are only 149 days until Christmas ... how absurd is that.
Where’s this year going to?
I was going to write about my abysmal day today but realised that writing about it, and the person who catapulted it into the realms of awfulness, would have given it a recognition it didn’t deserve.
Suffice to say that I nearly walked out on my job today, but didn’t.

It’s not just my regular customers that would have been disappointed if I had. Sam would have been too. He loves to pop in and visit me at the shop and is a marvelous sales assistant. Carol doesn’t really have a choice but to visit me. Sam hits the main street in the village and there’s only one place he wants to go .... and he wants to get there in double-quick time.
After all, like the beach in the morning, I might just disappear if he doesn’t get there instantly.
They both think that you see ... the hounds that is. They think the beach and the waves and the sand are going to vanish if they don’t get back there as quickly as is humanly possible. Crossing a busy bustling Tamaki Drive with eager hounds, rugby balls and hot coffee-to-go can be a hazardous occupation.

Some motorists attempt to use crossing pedestrians and hounds for target practise!
Even abysmal days have their upsides though. The support and encouragement of friends and the hugs from my OTHER favourite hound have left me feeling loved and cherished.
Tomorrow is ANOTHER day and it WILL be better!

Tomorrow’s also Tuesday and I love Tuesdays. Extra-long rambles with the hound are the activity of choice on Tuesdays. Not that the hound is in need of a really long ramble this week. I think she’s still tired from our full-on weekend.
We’ve had markets and match days this weekend and an awful lot of rain. Saturday’s market might not have been the most successful I’ve ever participated in but I guess there are always going to be good market days and bad market days. The hound doesn’t mind. She still gets to meet and greet all and any visitors to our stall ... both human and canine.
Milford Market ... where it drizzled all day long |
On Sunday we participated in an annual Match Day between Labradors and Golden Retrievers. It was a huge amount of fun for both her and me and for those watching the antics we all got up to.
There was a beautiful breed challenge, an obstacle course, retrieving challenges, musical chairs and our very favourite ... the teddy bear picnic relay.
The Shield at the end of the day was won by the Labradors
... of course.
