It's a RUGBY ball!

Ready to go to Waiatarua
Carol arrived at the Co-op this morning sans coffee card, sans cash card and sans petrol but she HAD remembered Sam!

The reason for her lapse in memory .... Pete’s Jeep!

A feast of Labradors!
She’d borrowed Pete’s Jeep so we could take the hounds to Waiatarua again. As is usual when one borrows a significant other’s car though, the petrol tank was empty. According to the Jeep’s on-board computer we could still travel for 23 kms but who would want to take a computer’s word for it.

Fortunately I’d come prepared ... quite unintentionally of course. I had a coffee card AND a cash card we could purchase petrol with.

With caffeine fix to hand and petrol purchased, we were ready to go much to the hounds delight. They LOVE the freedom at Waiatarua AND the mud AND the variety of dogs they meet and greet . It’s the most marvelous way of socialising a hound. I can think of several humans with hounds whose hounds, and possibly themselves, would benefit from a ramble or two here.
Sam in the mud again!

Just look at Indy's face ... too cute!
Carol’s gone and bought Sam his own rugby ball. She wanted a Hurricane’s rugby ball but they were sold out. They had plenty of Blues rugby balls but she doesn’t consider them worthy of recognition so settled for a Chief’s rugby ball instead. Sam doesn’t give a toss .... it’s a rugby ball .... and besides, he’s gonna swop it for the hound’s one on the beach in any case.
More mud ... but on the beach this time.

And that’s exactly what he did yesterday! He chased his own ball down the beach till he met up with the hound then promptly swopped balls. My hound loves rugby balls and she doesn’t care which one she gets to chase as long as she’s GOT a rugby ball!

Life’s TOUGH when you’re a hound.

Mist covering Rangitoto yesterday morning
It has been COLD in my part of the world .... BITTERLY cold. It sure puts trying on summer dresses or swimsuits to the bottom of anyone’s list of things to do. Lots of people have been coming into the shop to look and chat but few people have been buying as it’s much too cold to shed your clothes to try things on.

Thank goodness for caffeine when the weather’s this icy  ... copious amounts of it ... so much so that the girls at the Co-op are keeping count of the number of coffees I consume each day.
The morning mist settling on the water

It’s funny what people notice about you. The more I work at the shop and chat to people, the more I’m told how lovely my smile is and how bouncy I am. I’ve never thought of myself like that but if it’s drawing people into the shop then I’ll keep right on smiling and chatting nineteen to the dozen like I’m doing!

Isn’t it awesome that I’m PAID to CHAT!
