A wet and woeful Waiatarua Reserve |
A VERY wet Julia! |
... and a very WET me with Chocolat's log!! |
Our Friday was a puddles and raindrops day .... jumping into puddles and catching raindrops on the tip of my tongue ... only the raindrops got too many and I nearly drowned trying to swallow them.
The hound nearly drowned too! The river in Waiatarua Reserve is over-flowing and I walked towards it with the hound encouraging her to jump in ...... and she disappeared .... and I nearly did too!! Julia would have been NO help at all!! It was funny enough the hound disappearing ... can you just imagine what Julia’s reaction would have been had I disappeared!! Yep .... help would NOT have been forthcoming from that quarter .... she would have been way too busy rolling around in the mud trying NOT to wet her pants!
I’m not sure who was the most drenched though ... the hounds or us. I DO know I need a new raincoat ... this one LEAKS ..... all over. Even if I’d fallen in the river, I couldn’t have got more wet. I ALSO know that Julia needs to clean the inside of her car. The hounds waited until they were IN the car before shaking .... the inside of the car looked more wet than the outside by the time they were finished!
Despite all the dampness and all the shivers, I still just love walking in the rain. It’s invigorating and brings out the child in me .... it’s so satisfying splashing water everywhere as you walk. Sadly, my phone didn’t like it quite as much. Despite being protected in a plastic bag, as is my camera when I walk in the rain, it got sick. It lost it’s voice and didn’t want to talk to anyone anymore ... my children might say that’s a good thing.
BUT .... it’s an iphone ..... they HEAL themselves .... and, this morning, it’s back to normal and working as it should .... Yay!!
We met the Beagle pup that’s being “Puppy walked” by a family down the road for MAF’s Beagle Brigade. Beagles have the most amazing noses .... this one could even put Indy to shame!! The one restriction with puppy walking a Beagle though is that it’s not allowed to be let off leash unless it’s in a cage or in an enclosed garden. It sounds unreasonable but I guess a Beagle pup knows no different.
Those little drops of water in the atmosphere are persisting again today ... our morning ramble started off dry and sunny but was curtailed by a wet squall moving through.
It’s all because of those kingfishers .....
The part of our walk the hound doesn't enjoy .... leaving the beach!! |
