Woweee .... what a fun afternoon!!
We’re babysitting our neighbour’s sports car whilst they’re away for 3 weeks on a cruise ... it’s a Merc 350 SLK and it’s gorgeous! Gordon asked us to take it for a weekly constitutional ...
give it a LONG run, get the engine ticking over nicely so it’s happy to sit quietly in the garage for the rest of the week.
It’s only a 2-seater so the hound couldn’t come along ... she’d have loved it though ... roof down ... wind blowing through her hair ... she’d have been in her
element! I guess I could have taken her and left Gav at home ... but he might have been a bit miffed if I’d done that. After all, Gordon did leave the keys with him and not me .... can’t imagine why ....
I LOVE fast cars ... always have ... and I LOVE driving fast ....
But I digress .... the SLK is awesome to drive .... so much power but you can’t use it! Our traffic police here are clamping down on speeding at the moment ..... maximum speed is 100k/hour and they’re only giving you a 4k leeway. Not only are the fines huge but you get demerit points on your license ... it’s just not worth the risk.

It’s so exciting driving a car that has so much power under your foot ... you just TAP the pedal and the car leaps forward .... it’s like a tethered stallion .... it just wants to be let loose!! I was SO tempted to let it go but I had Captain Caution sitting next to me .... and yes ... it’s not our car .... and yes, I have to be R.E.S.P.O.N.S.I.B.L.E. We don’t want Gordon to come home to a speeding fine ..... or worse, an impounded SLK!
We drove out to Puhoi, a historical village, for ice cream .... just a 110km round trip ... the ice creams were delicious .... and so was the drive!

I don’t think we’ll include 4x4's in our service though ... especially after my oldest son’s little escapade last night. It’s funny how a mother always knows when something’s wrong ... he texted me at 2am in the morning to say he wouldn’t be coming home to sleep. Something made me text him back and ask if he was alright to which he replied
yes .... but something inside me knew he wasn’t. Needless to say, when he did finally arrive home this morning, everything had NOT been alright but he hadn’t wanted to drag us out of bed in the middle of the night. Intuition is an incredible thing.
