.... those pavement-wide logs ....

The gulls were grounded .... the hovering ones are trying to avoid flying backwards ...

I just have the most fun in the mornings when I walk my hound ... we see some of the strangest things ... not that I always get pictures of them ... but I get to smile and laugh a lot AND .....  I have a huge amount of fun.  I get wet ... very wet sometimes ... sandy ..... often muddy .... and sometimes cold ... but I love it!  I meet the nicest of people ..... and catch up with what’s happening in their world and in the world in general.  In some ways, it’s even better than reading the morning newspaper .... I get added value as I hear other peoples viewpoints on a widely diverse range of subjects!

Deserted beach today .... because it's windy and wet!
I come home feeling all warm and fuzzy inside ..... and knowing things I never expected I would ever need to know .... courtesy of all my ‘humans with hounds’!

I don’t know what’s happened to spring in my part of the world today but the temp dropped last night and the wind and rain have been out in force this morning .... the poor seagulls were grounded again .... and the hound and I got rather damp .....

There is driftwood in abundance on the beach at the moment so the rugby ball was surplus to requirement and ended up in the backpack.  That’s fine when we’re on the beach but, for some unfathomable reason this morning, she wanted to take the log up to the viewsite. A normal stick ..... or pretzel as Jane would call it ... would be fine, but my hound is never satisfied with a pretzel ... she has to find the longest, pavement-wide log!

The SHAVED kitty!
All well and good when you have the pavement to yourself .. but not so good when you’re sharing it with other members of the public!!  Fortunately she looks so comical carrying her pavement-wide logs that most people move out of her way and laugh ..... they don't want bruised shins!  I have plenty of those as, despite having some spatial awareness, she often swings round with the log in her
mouth and catches me unawares .... OUCH!!  I’m always amazed at her awareness of what size gap her logs will go through though .... she stops and waits for me to carry the log when she knows she can’t get it through a gap!

I tried to persuade her to leave the log behind at the viewsite .... but she’s not stupid ..... she knew I wanted to ditch the log so she lay on it so I couldn’t throw it away!!  So on we went with our ramble, heading along the road towards Glover Park ... log firmly clamped in jaws .... past the home of the shaved kitties ..... AND .... there was a kitty at the top of the stairs ...... YAY ....  photo opportunity!!

Chocolate Box cute!!
The more I looked at the kitty the more I wondered why on earth anyone would want to shave a kitty ... and ..... unthinkable thought .... how on earth do you keep a kitty still in order to shave it?  I can only think they sedate it ... I certainly can’t see it sitting there obediently like a dog would.

The log got dropped to the ground as my hound tried to examine the kitty more closely ....  I grabbed the moment to dispose of the log behind a tree .... yes, I’m mean .... I know..  The kitty meanwhile was attempting to make itself look bigger ... difficult job when you’re missing your clothes!! The hound was so excited at her encounter with the cat that she completely forgot what she’d been carrying .... it was only when we reached Glover Park that she seemed to realise she’d left the log behind!!

Not a problem though .. out came the ball from the backpack and she proudly carried the ball to the largest and muddiest puddle she could find ...... and ..... DROPPED it there ......
