When was I ever rational.

“Some of life’s toughest decisions are made for us.
We don’t always get to choose our path.
It’s in the way we travel these roads that define the quality of our lives.”
~ Lisa Prosen
HAPPINESS is  relative.
It’s six months since the SO began his temporary stint at SpringHill Correction Facility.
So much has happened.
So much has changed.
It isn’t easy.  Not for him OR for us.
I’ve changed in so many ways.
What HASN’T changed though is my ability to find happiness in the simplest of things.
That’s ALWAYS been one of my strengths.
I’ve not always been rational.
Far from it.
Some would ask when was I ever.
Even in my most irrational moments though,
I can STILL see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Muddied maybe, but definitely still there.
It’s in the sharing of everyday moments that happiness is found.
It’s contagious.
One happy moment shared with another has a ripple effect.
It goes well beyond the people with whom we have direct contact.
My moment of happiness affects my friend and my friend’s friends too.
Toppling dominoes comes to mind.
Just as the hound’s antics make me smile,
So too do they make passers-by smile.
There’s something about a waggling Labrador bum that softens the hardest of hearts.
Life is cruel at times.
More than cruel.
Finding ways to cope in a world gone wonky is beyond necessary.
Look for the moments that make you smile.
No matter your circumstances in life, they’re always there.
I KNOW that.

“It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving,
but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living.”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald
